Architectural Design & Drafting
Using the most up-to-date technology and software, architectural design and drafting students quickly become “CADD addicts”. Not only do students design their own two-story house, they also build ¾” scale models.

In 2015, a senior in the program competed and won 1st place (gold) in the state of South Carolina in the SKILLSUSA Architectural Drafting competition.

Career Fields Include:
Design layout designer, chief architectural draftsman and program manager.

Archictectural Design I

Credits:  2
Prerequisite:  A strong understanding of math
Site:  DCCTC
With an emphasis on Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), students develop basic skills in sketching, multi-view drawings, auxiliary views, floor plans, elevations and sections in architectural and mechanical drafting. They learn 2-D design along with computer animation and 3-D rendering. This program is recommended for students interested in architecture and/or engineering and related occupational programs.

Architectural Design II

Credits:  2    
Prerequisites:  Architectural Design I
Site:  DCCTC
This advanced course is intended to develop the existing skills learned in Architectural Design I. The knowledge and skills learned are also used to prepare students for careers in drafting and/or post-secondary school. This course is of value to students interested in engineering, architectural fields, and other occupational areas such as electrical engineering, landscape architecture, building construction, and other areas requiring CAD trained employees.

Architectural Design III – Work Based Learning

Credits: 1
Grades 11- 12 
Prerequisite: Student must have completed Architectural Design I & II at DCCTC as well as have a satisfactory instructor recommendation.
Students who have completed Architectural Design I & II at DCCTC and desire work experience in the field may choose to further enhance their skills by enrolling in our work based learning course. Students will learn daily duties and participate in on-site training. Students must provide their own transportation to work sites.
